Ukraine increased its electricity imports in March

In March 2025, Ukraine increased its electricity imports by 11% compared to February – to 272,000 MWh.

This was reported by the specialized publication ExPro.

According to the publication, the largest volume of supplies came from Hungary, which accounted for 42% of the imported electricity.

The supply shares were also: 19% from Slovakia, 18% from Poland, 16% from Romania, and the remaining – from Moldova.

An increase in imports was observed in all directions except Slovakia. Meanwhile, on an annual comparison (to March 2024), imports decreased by almost 40%.

In March, Ukraine also doubled its electricity exports – to 76,300 MWh. This was made possible by an increase in generation at solar power plants during daylight hours, which caused a surplus in the energy system.
