The occupiers in the Donetsk region aim to regain control of Lyman, and it is possible that they may transfer their units from the Kursk region for this purpose.

This was reported on air by "Radio NV" by veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war and former commander of the "Aidar" battalion company, Yevhen Dykyi.

"It seems to me that there is indeed a real threat to Lyman. Losing towns that have already been occupied and liberated in 2022 would be very painful. In my opinion, the Russians are targeting Lyman specifically. The fact that they managed to establish themselves on the eastern bank of the Zherebets River is of great concern. Holding them there with a force ratio of 1 to 10 will be extremely difficult," notes Dykyi.

The ATO veteran recalled that near Pokrovsk, the occupiers were stopped by concentrating sufficient forces there.

"Now these forces might be lacking elsewhere. The Russians will actively seek where our positions are most vulnerable. The Lyman direction, in my view, is one of the most dangerous," the military expert emphasized.

He added that one should not forget about the large Russian group in the Kursk region. The Russians may attempt to move this entire group forward and start an offensive in the Sumy region or divide it for actions in other directions.

"I think they understand that the defense in the Sumy region is strong and they are unlikely to advance there. Then, these 70,000 cease to be a single strike force, and they can be redistributed in parts to other areas. In this case, the nearest directions where they can be transferred are the Kupyansk and Lyman directions," Dykyi noted.
