In March, President Zelenskyy stated for the French publication Le Figaro that Russia is preparing a new offensive in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions this spring. Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi confirmed the words of the head of state.
In an interview for LB, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized that Russia’s military goals remain unchanged. It seeks to fully occupy the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as parts of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions.
The general also confirmed Zelenskyy’s statements about the enemy’s plans to advance in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. Moreover, according to him, this offensive has effectively already begun. For almost a week now, there has been almost double the number of offensive actions by the enemy in all major directions.
Syrskyi emphasized that in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, the enemy aims to create a buffer zone.
The Commander-in-Chief noted that Russia does not plan to stop the war. "Despite all the negotiations taking place, we only observe an increase in the intensity of offensive actions," he explained.
