The SBI discovered a large weapons cache in downtown Kyiv
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, supported by the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine, discovered a large arsenal of weapons in the center of Kyiv.
In one of the garages in the Desnianskyi district of the city, the following was stored:
- more than 35,000 bullets,
- 6 grenade launchers,
- 6 unmanned aerial vehicles,
- 130 grenades,
- 90 VOGs,
- automatic rifles,
- sniper rifles,
- remotely operated detonators,
- surveillance devices,
- pistols, anti-personnel mines, and more.
- The owners of this arsenal turned out to be an employee of a law enforcement agency and his father.
Investigators are currently determining the origin of the firearms, ammunition, and explosive devices, as well as determining the purpose of their storage.
The owners of the arsenal have been detained and charged under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosive substances").
The article provides for a penalty of up to 7 years of imprisonment.
