The United States supported the possible extension of the Easter truce in Ukraine

The US State Department noted that it would welcome the extension of the one-day Easter ceasefire after Sunday, announced by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, despite the Kremlin previously stating that there was no order for an extension.

A State Department spokesperson indicated that they noted President Putin’s announcement of a temporary ceasefire in connection with Easter. He emphasized that the US remains committed to achieving a full and comprehensive ceasefire in Ukraine.

"As we assess their seriousness on this matter, we would welcome it to continue beyond Sunday," he noted.
