The Russian army lost almost three divisions in a month – Ministry of Defence

During a month of fighting with the AFU, the Russian army lost nearly three divisions of personnel and 86 artillery battalions.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine on May 1.

According to the General Staff, in April, the irrecoverable and sanitary losses of the Russian army amounted to 35,010 personnel.

«Such a volume of manpower would be enough to staff nearly three motorized rifle divisions. Notably, in the first quarter of 2025, the enemy lost 125,970 personnel killed and wounded», – the report states.

Moreover, in 30 days of April, Ukrainian defenders destroyed or disabled 1,560 enemy artillery systems.

«This is, roughly, 86 artillery battalions. On just one day, April 17, the Defence Forces hit 88 enemy guns», – noted the Ministry of Defence.

In April, the Defence Forces also destroyed or disabled 217 Russian tanks. In March, 272 were destroyed. Since the beginning of the year, Russians have lost 1,060 tanks destroyed and damaged in Ukraine.

Also in April, AFU fighters destroyed or damaged 484 enemy armored combat vehicles and 4,063 units of the occupiers’ military vehicles.

As reported, in April, the number of combat engagements at the front increased compared to March: 4,647 against 4,270. For comparison, 3,274 combat engagements were recorded in February.
