Markarova: The agreement on minerals is an important part of future security guarantees

The agreement signed by Ukraine and the USA on minerals and economic partnership is an important part of the broader security architecture.

This was noted by Ukraine’s Ambassador to the USA, Oksana Markarova, on CBS television channel.

Commenting on statements by the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that Russia will "bring the war to the desired result," Markarova remarked: "It doesn’t matter how we interpret what he says."

The ambassador noted that "we just need to be aware that he is a threat not only to Ukraine but to everyone who believes that nations should live peacefully, without challenging each other’s borders, and focus on economic cooperation."

She also added that "Putin is doing this together with Iran and North Korea. They do not hide it. They support other terrorist regimes."

Additionally, Markarova commented on the recently signed agreement between Ukraine and the USA regarding minerals. The ambassador assured that it would be a true 50-50 partnership.

"Future US investments, including military contracts, will be counted as a contribution to the fund. And Ukraine will invest funds from new licenses and projects," she said.

According to her, "this economic partnership agreement itself is a very important part of the broader security architecture," and the fund will be successful if Ukraine is stable and peaceful. Thus, as Markarova emphasizes, in a sense, this agreement is an important part of future security guarantees.

The ambassador added that Ukraine and the USA are working "very actively" to make the agreement operational as quickly as possible.
