
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan the details of the upcoming meeting in Istanbul, which is scheduled to include Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 15.
The Head of State reported this on Telegram.
"I spoke with President Erdogan. We discussed key points of the meeting in Turkey, which could contribute to ending the war. Grateful for the support and willingness to facilitate diplomacy at the highest level. We both agree on the necessity of a ceasefire," the President stated.
Zelenskyy emphasized that partners also need to ensure monitoring of the ceasefire.
"We are ready for direct negotiations with Putin. And it is very important that all of us together in Europe are working towards long-term security guarantees. We will remain in constant contact with America. We agreed with President Erdogan on further joint efforts for peace," added Zelenskyy.
