On the night of May 23, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, along with other units of the Defence Forces, struck the defence enterprise "Energia" in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk region, Russia. This plant produced batteries for aerial bombs, Iskander missiles, and naval weapons.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
It was reported that a series of explosions occurred on the premises of the facility, and a large fire ensued. According to preliminary information, the target was hit, and the consequences of the attack are still being clarified.
"PJSC ’Energia’ is one of the largest producers of chemical power sources in Russia. The enterprise is the only manufacturer of batteries for planning and correction modules, which are installed on aerial bombs."
In addition, this enterprise produces batteries for the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system, sea-launched cruise missiles, and a range of universal batteries used in the power supply systems of special equipment.
The General Staff emphasizes that stopping this production could significantly complicate the technical capabilities of the occupying Russian army in planning missile attacks and using precision weapons.
