The world should be interested in ending the Russian-Ukrainian war.

This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with ABC News.

"Most wars ended when the parties stopped trusting each other. Mediators, circumstances, and the common sense of third countries around the world helped. Everyone understood that war is not just about starting and ending, no. It has a long ’tail.’ Like the long ’tail’ after this war, it does not just end and has an impact on many different countries and areas: economy, energy, security, food security of other countries, so the world should be interested in ending the war," Zelenskyy emphasized.

According to the President, most wars ended with certain agreements. In particular, third parties are needed to put pressure on the aggressor, as the Ukrainian side is ready to meet.

"We support everything President Trump is saying now because we believe he can put pressure on the Russians. Do we like the idea of simply stopping the fighting without security guarantees? Not really. But do we support it? Yes, we support it. We were ready for a stable and lasting ceasefire. We were prepared for a 30-day ceasefire, we were ready for a ceasefire until the leaders’ meeting, we were ready for a ceasefire in the sky, on land, on water, to start with one or completely. Whatever in any form, any representatives of the Trump administration offered to both sides, we supported all proposals. Russia did not support any proposal. So who does not want the war to end?" Zelenskyy noted.

He emphasized that this question is not rhetorical but absolutely specific and clear.

"We did not want the war to begin, we did not intend to surrender to Putin, we are not ready for ultimatums, and we want to end the war. We are ready for a ceasefire, for a specific ceasefire proposed by the American side, which we saw as a guarantor, and then as a controller of the ceasefire, and as a mediator," the head of state explained.
