On June 14, ammunition was discovered on a private plot in Lviv. It is likely that they have been preserved since World War II. Sappers removed 138 artillery shells.
As reported by the Department of Civil Protection of LRMA, the explosive items were found while digging a trench 5 meters from a residential house in the ‘Troyanda’ garden cooperative on 17 Bihova Street.
Initially, four artillery shells of 76 mm caliber were found. Later, when a demining unit was called to the site, a total of 83 artillery shells were discovered.
It was not possible to neutralize them all in one day, and the work continued on June 15.
Later, the State Emergency Service of Lviv reported that a total of 138 explosive items from World War II were removed by the pyrotechnics team.
«Sappers from the 2nd Special Purpose Emergency Rescue Unit removed World War II artillery shells from the territory of a private residential house in Lviv. This was made possible thanks to the attentiveness and responsibility of the owner, who did not delay and immediately reported the dangerous find», – noted the State Emergency Service.
Rescuers emphasize that when a suspicious item is found, it should not be touched, but instead, you should immediately call 101 (State Emergency Service) or 102 (police). Even old ammunition can explode.
