Ukraine is making changes in the format of exchanging the bodies of the deceased – SSU

On June 15, Ukraine completed a stage of returning fallen military personnel, which included the use of railways.

This was reported by «Glavcom» with reference to the  Security Service of Ukraine.

They explained that this allowed for faster delivery of the bodies of the fallen defenders to various regions, where further identification and other procedures would take place.

The next stages of return will occur using road transport, according to agreements reached at a meeting in Istanbul.

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross participated in the current activities.

«They highly appreciated the organization of the return of Ukraine’s fallen defenders. According to them, the return took place at the highest level, with compliance to all prescribed international practices and with due honor to the fallen soldiers», stated the SSU.

The fallen defenders were returned thanks to the joint efforts of the Joint Coordination Center for the Search and Release of Prisoners of War under the SSU, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, the Ministry of Defence, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons, the State Emergency Service, the State Border Guard Service, and other structures of the Security and Defence Sector of Ukraine, as well as thanks to «Ukrzaliznytsia».
