In Zhytomyr, a law enforcement officer under the influence of alcohol caused a fatal car accident: a teenage girl died
In Zhytomyr, a law enforcement officer in a state of alcohol intoxication caused a fatal traffic accident. Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) detained him and pressed charges.

"According to preliminary data, at about 1:20 am on July 7, 2025, in Zhytomyr, the driver of a passenger car lost control and crashed into a concrete pillar. Behind the wheel was a law enforcement officer who was off-duty at the time and was transporting two underage girls – 16 and 17 years old, and a 25-year-old man," the SBI noted.
It is known that as a result of the collision, a 16-year-old girl died on the spot. The other victims with multiple injuries were hospitalized.
An inspection showed that the driver was under the influence of severe alcohol intoxication – the blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit by more than five times.
The law enforcement officer has been detained and charged, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
