Former MP Zalishchuk appointed ambassador in Stockholm — questionable elements found in the declaration

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed former MP and journalist Svitlana Zalishchuk as Ukraine’s ambassador to Stockholm. For her, Sweden is not a completely foreign country, as she has close ties with this state.

In 2016, Zalishchuk was involved in a scandal for attempting to hide the purchase of an apartment in the center of Kyiv worth $270,000 in her declaration. She stated that the apartment was purchased together with her husband by selling his property in Stockholm. However, the declared income of her husband, Swedish diplomat Morten Enberg, who was the deputy ambassador of Sweden to Ukraine until August 2014, raised doubts about the possibility of such a purchase.

After working at the Swedish embassy, Enberg headed the Office of the Council of Europe in Ukraine and was the director of the USAID program "RADA: Next Generation."

Zalishchuk’s appointment as ambassador has already caused a wide resonance in the media and social networks.
