Died on the spot: in Zhytomyr, a 6-year-old girl fell out of a window

A tragedy occurred in Zhytomyr on the morning of July 10th. The body of a child was found on the sidewalk near a multi-story building, and the medics who arrived on the scene pronounced the girl dead.

Preliminarily, the 6-year-old child fell from the fourth-floor window in the morning while the family members were still asleep. This was reported by the Zhytomyr Region Police.

"The report of the tragedy was received by the police around 05:45 on July 10th. A passerby reported discovering the body of a child on the sidewalk near the multi-story building. A mosquito net was found nearby, indicating a likely fall from the window. An investigative team from the Zhytomyr District Police Department No.1 and emergency medical personnel were on the scene, confirming the girl’s death," the statement said.

Law enforcement officers believe that the 6-year-old child fell from an open window on the 4th floor of the multi-story building. Other family members were still asleep at the time.

Currently, police investigators are establishing all reasons and circumstances of the event.

The tragedy in Zhytomyr prompted the police to once again remind adults that they are responsible for children’s safety.

At the same time, law enforcement reminds that adults are responsible for children’s safety. To prevent accidents, parents should remember safety rules:

• Under no circumstances leave young children unattended in rooms with open windows. Teach them about dangers from an early age.
• Install locks, stoppers, or blocking devices to prevent a child from opening the window.
• Do not place furniture near windows to prevent children from climbing on the windowsill, avoid playing on the windowsill with the child, and do not allow them to sit there at any time of the year.
• Use special reinforced mosquito nets or consider installing protective grilles on windows.
