On July 11, 2025, a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest without an electronic bracelet was chosen for the former secretary of the Kyiv Council, Volodymyr Bondarenko. The case was heard in the Pechersk court of Kyiv. Bondarenko immediately published a post on social media, stating that the case is of a political nature.

According to the court’s decision, Bondarenko’s round-the-clock house arrest will last until September 9. He was also ordered to surrender his passports to prevent him from leaving the country, as reported by UNN. A few minutes after the court’s decision, a post about the arrest appeared on Bondarenko’s Facebook, indicating pre-prepared actions by the ex-official’s PR managers. Officially, according to the former secretary of the Kyiv Council, "political motivation has once again triumphed over the law."

"I consider this court decision completely unfounded. We continue to fight. The desire to take control over Kyiv overshadows everything else. All possible methods are being used to remove Kyiv City Council deputies from the hall, as it is necessary to neutralize the Mayor of Kyiv," the statement reads.

Bondarenko also points to the head of the Ministry of National Unity, Oleksiy Chernyshov, hinting that it is he who is being shielded by choosing an inadequate preventive measure. He claims that for the billions in damages caused by the current minister, only a symbolic bail was appointed without removal from office. Instead, for unproven damages and the return of military salaries to the budget (which are attributed to Bondarenko - Ed.), he faces round-the-clock house arrest and the blocking of any activity.
