Shmyhal: Effective management in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will reduce the need for forced mobilization

The newly appointed Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, stated that the main task of the Ministry of Defence during wartime is to create an army focused on the needs of the servicemen.

He said this during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada before the vote for his appointment.

Shmyhal emphasized that the key to reducing instances of forced conscription is effective management, trust in the command, and proper provision for the soldiers.

«We hear about certain incidents, but mobilization in Ukraine is proceeding according to plan. Many people voluntarily join the ranks of the Armed Forces. Our task is to ensure that these people have everything they need and do not fear service», Shmyhal noted.

He also added that improving conditions in the Armed Forces will reduce public tension around the topic of mobilization and strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.
