Chalyi: Ukraine is losing the window of opportunity to exit a full-scale war

Ukraine may have an opportunity to end the large-scale war in October-November this year, but we are missing this opportunity.

This was stated on "Espreso" by diplomat and former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Valeriy Chalyi.

He shared his vision of how Donald Trump receives information.

"I have experience communicating with him. He is unlikely doing all this consciously, creating a special narrative to avoid further continuation. There is a certain mix here. That is, there is information being provided to him, and he selects what is convenient for him at the moment, but the volume of information provided does not allow him to say that Russian generals are walking through fields, as this goes beyond the realities of war," said the diplomat.

In his opinion, we cannot currently assert that it is due to Ukraine’s diplomatic failures that Donald Trump speaks this way.

"No, but the fact that we do not achieve direct contact with him, his close entourage, or family, where we could have influence, while Stephen Witkoff travels to Putin for the fifth time and all these phrases are essentially put into his ears. And Orbán, the prime minister of Hungary, cited him on another issue that Russia has always defeated all countries. This is not true. Russia has lost even to Ukrainians many times in history. But not to mention defeating all countries. This is completely beyond everything. Tsushima, Pearl Harbor," noted Chalyi.

The former ambassador to the U.S. added that there are certain things the U.S. president still cannot avoid saying, which are beneficial to him regarding Ukrainians.

"Therefore, I am somewhat perplexed in this regard, we cannot compete with the Russians, they have occupied his large ear. But I have to say that these challenges absolutely require us to develop a completely different tactic. And perhaps the strategy needs to be adjusted somewhat because we see that this window of opportunity to exit the large-scale war is being lost," he emphasized.

The diplomat noted that this is the worst for us.

"If we do not take advantage of the window of opportunity to exit the large-scale war, it will drag on. And Donald Trump’s actions place us in a situation where we cannot pursue it. As a result of the meeting, more and more negativity arises. Therefore, to be honest, if it hadn’t happened, it would have been much better for everyone," concluded Chalyi.
