On the night before Thursday, August 14, the Russian city of Volgograd again came under drone attacks. Local residents reported explosions and the operation of air defence systems, and later a fire with smoke. According to them, the fire broke out at the local oil refinery (OR). Later, this was confirmed by local authorities.
The OR in question is "Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka" in the Krasnoarmeysky district of the city. Russians posted footage of the aftermath of the attack online.
The OR was under attack
Local residents wrote about several drone strikes on the "Lukoil" OR in Volgograd.

Soon, the authorities acknowledged "ignition and leakage of petroleum products" at the OR. Governor Andrey Bocharov stated that this happened due to the fall of UAV debris after the attack.
"Last night, air defence forces of the Russian Ministry of Defence repelled a massive UAV attack on the territory of the Volgograd region. As a result of the debris fall, there was a spill and ignition of petroleum products at the Volgograd OR. Fire services promptly commenced extinguishing operations. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties," he reported.
It should be noted that temporary restrictions were imposed on the reception and release of aircraft at Volgograd Airport.

NASA satellites recorded a massive fire at the "LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka" OR. And the Telegram channel Exilenova+ published footage confirming the hit on the Russian plant.
