Russian media spread fake claims that phones of Ukrainian prisoners of war allegedly contained footage of attacks on vehicles with white ribbons.
The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasizes: the information from Russia is an unsubstantiated fake.
"In reality, this is fake. Russian propagandists have not released any videos or evidence to support these claims. Furthermore, Ukrainian military personnel — unlike Russian occupiers — adhere to the laws and customs of war," — stresses the CCD.
The agency adds that this is a typical tactic of Russian propaganda — to make loud accusations without factual confirmation.
"Such fakes aim to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine and justify their own crimes against the civilian population," — the CCD emphasizes.
