On Thursday, September 25, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced that the Security Service of Ukraine had started new searches within the agency.
This was reported by NABU and the SSU.
As stated in the agency, today the SSU is conducting investigative actions against former detectives of the National Bureau, who are currently active employees of "Ukrzaliznytsia".
"Probably, they are related to their previous activities in investigations as part of investigative teams that exposed organized criminal groups in state enterprises and government bodies, including the SSU," NABU stated.
"On September 25, the Security Service of Ukraine initiated a series of court-sanctioned searches in a criminal proceeding regarding abuses in the area of freight transportation at ’Ukrzaliznytsia’," the SSU says.
They note that the investigative-operative measures are being conducted exclusively with officials of "Ukrzaliznytsia" and private entrepreneurs who are subjects of the respective criminal proceeding.
The SSU claims that the searches are not connected with "pressure on the independence of anti-corruption institutions," as stated today by their representatives. All actions are conducted in strict compliance with the legislation of Ukraine.
"Any abuses in the railway sector, which plays a key role in the logistics of the Security and Defence Forces, the supply of weapons and goods to the front line, are unacceptable and pose a threat to the national security of our state," the SSU stated.
