Russia has cut off power to the Chernobyl NPP Shelter: the confinement is operating on generators

The confinement built over the destroyed fourth reactor of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant has been cut off from power as a result of an attack by the Russians. It is currently powered by emergency diesel generators.

This was reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

It is noted that currently, the shelter is being powered by two emergency diesel generators after the Russians carried out a terrorist act at the "Slavutych" substation.

"The facility quickly switched to alternative lines, and power was restored, except for the New Safe Confinement (NSC), which covers the old sarcophagus built after the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident in 1986," the report says.

Other facilities located at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant are fully powered by regular sources, according to the IAEA.
