Night strike on Kirovohrad region: five settlements left without electricity

Due to a nighttime Russian shelling of critical infrastructure facilities in Kirovohrad region, five settlements in the Dolynska and Novoprazka communities were left without electricity. Rescuers have already extinguished all fires, there are no casualties, but energy workers are working to restore power supply.

This was reported by the head of Kirovohrad Regional State Administration Andriy Raykovych.

It is noted that the shelling damaged several buildings and caused fires at certain locations. Fortunately, there are no reported casualties at this time.

However, five settlements in the region are without electricity, causing significant difficulties for the local population and the operation of socially important facilities. At the sites of the strikes, units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kirovohrad region were promptly deployed—34 rescuers and 7 units of equipment. Local fire brigades also joined in extinguishing the fires. All fire outbreaks were quickly localized and eliminated.

The State Emergency Service emphasizes that despite the prompt response of the services, the consequences of the attack remain significant—energy workers are working on restoring electricity, while communal services are assessing the extent of the damage. "Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. There is damage to buildings. Five settlements are without electricity. Fires at the facilities have been extinguished. All services are working," the head of the Regional State Administration stated in the report.

The events in Kirovohrad region once again highlight how vulnerable Ukraine’s energy system remains in the face of enemy attacks. The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine does not rule out that continued massive strikes on energy infrastructure facilities could lead to prolonged power outages in the country.

Despite the situation being under control for now, the ministry urges citizens to be prepared for any scenarios. Ukrainians are advised to have a supply of drinking and technical water at home, as well as food that does not require cooking or long-term storage without refrigeration.

Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk noted that the state of the country’s energy system directly depends on the intensity of enemy attacks and the speed of restoring damaged equipment.

"It is too early to talk about long-term outages, but we have the experience of past years when the situation changed daily. We are preparing for various scenarios, even the worst ones. However, we hope that through joint efforts, we will be able to avoid large-scale blackouts," she emphasized.
