In the Ternopil region, five schemes of illegal enrichment during mobilization were uncovered

In the Ternopil region, law enforcement officers uncovered five illegal enrichment schemes related to mobilization processes. Among the uncovered facts are unfounded military exemptions, receiving money for fictitious training, forged medical certificates, removal from military registration, and organizing the illegal transfer of men across the state border. In total, nine people have been notified of suspicion.

This was reported on Facebook on October 20 by the Office of the Prosecutor General:

"According to the investigation, two residents of Chernivtsi region organized an illegal transfer of a Ternopil resident across the state border of Ukraine for 11,000 euros.

Two residents of Ternopil promised their acquaintances to influence authorized military officials for a monetary reward, so that they would not transfer servicemen from rear units to the combat zone. For this, they demanded 12 thousand and 2.5 thousand US dollars.

Another resident of the region received 1.5 thousand US dollars for supposedly influencing the officials of the territorial recruitment center regarding the removal of a liable for military service from the search.

Acting director of one of the vocational colleges, in collusion with 2 individuals, received an improper benefit of 700 US dollars for the enrollment of a liable for military service.

Also, 2 heads of departments of a district hospital were exposed, who received an improper benefit (25 thousand UAH) for issuing fake medical certificates. During a search at the home of one of the doctors, medical documentation for 37 patients was found. Law enforcement officers seized 19,827 US dollars, 7,365 euros, 900 zlotys, 60 pounds sterling, 58,500 hryvnias from him.

On October 20, head of the National Police in Ternopil region Serhiy Zubanenko reported on Facebook that it concerns Berezhany doctors, who, according to him, profited from defenders:

"For the "necessary" diagnosis, which would allow the military to be transferred from the front line to the rear, the medics "asked" for a monetary reward".

"Both defendants have already been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code. The court chose a preventive measure of detention with the possibility of bail," said Serhiy Zubanenko.

In total, during 20 searches, 173 thousand hryvnias, 35,000 US dollars, 15,800 euros, 900 zlotys, and 60 pounds sterling were found and seized."

Investigation is ongoing in criminal proceedings under articles Part 3 of Article 368, Part 3 of Article 369-2, Part 3 of Article 332.

The investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Ternopil region, with the operational support of employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations, Department of Internal Security, and the Security Service of Ukraine in the region.
