Former Minister Plachkov warned about dangerous voltage fluctuations in Ukraine’s power grids
Ivan Plachkov, former Minister of Fuel and Energy, has warned about the possibility of significant voltage fluctuations in electrical grids. According to him, these surges can be dangerous for household appliances and electronics.
"To prevent your home electrical devices, computers, and everything else from burning out – unplug them at night."
The former minister emphasized that in the event of an imbalance or partial destruction of the unified energy system (for example, during a transition to the so-called ’island mode’), voltage fluctuations could reach critical levels (according to him, ranging from 60 to 150 volts).
Such severe voltage swings can lead to the failure of unprotected equipment and also pose a risk of fire.
