Police were rushing to a call: new details of the fatal accident in Pryluky
In Pryluky, Chernihiv region, a police officer ran over a woman with a child at a pedestrian crossing. A 6-year-old girl died from the injuries sustained, and the child’s mother was taken to the hospital.
This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Under the procedural guidance of the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of road safety rules that resulted in the death of the victim.
According to the investigation, on December 10 at around 11:44, a patrol response unit of the Pryluky District Police Department, while responding to a call about another traffic accident, struck a 36-year-old woman with a child who were crossing the road at a regulated pedestrian crossing on Vyacheslava Chornovola Street.
As a result of the accident, the 6-year-old girl died at the scene, and her mother was taken to the city hospital with bodily injuries.
Currently, initial investigative actions are being conducted, and the police officer has been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Fatal accidents involving official vehicles always cause public outcry and draw attention to compliance with road safety rules.
The investigation is ongoing, all circumstances are being established, and the public awaits the results of expert examinations that will determine the level of the police officer’s responsibility.
