Bail was posted for MP Skorokhod: she has been released from detention
A bail has been posted for Member of Parliament Anna Skorokhod, who was suspected of organizing a criminal group to extort bribes. She has already left the pre-trial detention center but is required to wear an electronic bracelet while the investigation continues.
This was announced by the MP’s lawyer, Oleh Burhela, as quoted by Suspilne.
According to him, the bail was paid by "third parties" on December 12 after lunch. He did not specify who exactly paid it. Skorokhod herself had previously stated in court that she did not have such funds. The lawyer explained to Suspilne that the money paid "does not belong to the MP."
Currently, the MP is in Kyiv with an electronic bracelet. Lawyer Burhela reported that he has already appealed the preventive measure: the defense is asking the court to reduce the bail amount and remove the monitoring device.
"We understand that the bail will remain in place since the pre-trial investigation is ongoing, but we will request a reduction in its amount. We also see no point in the electronic bracelet: as a Member of Parliament, Skorokhod is not restricted in her movement across Ukraine," the lawyer noted.
On December 15, a hearing will take place at the High Anti-Corruption Court to consider the seizure of the MP’s property, Burhela reported.
