Apartments, luxury cars, and strange sales: how the head of the customs post Malyuha explains wealth that exceeds official income
The head of the Kyiv Customs post, Ruslan Malyuha, has withdrawn his declarations from the NACP register.
For 2024, he declared a land plot and a house in Brovary with an area of 228 m². Additionally, his wife Lesya owns an apartment in Brovary with an area of 59 m², and his son Ivan owns an apartment in Kyiv with an area of 54 m². Last year, Ruslan Malyuha also received another apartment in Kyiv as a gift, with an area of almost 70 m² and a value of 1.7 million UAH.
His wife, Lesya Malyuha, purchased a Volkswagen Tiguan (2022) last year for 1.1 million UAH. Meanwhile, the couple’s combined income for the past year barely reached the same amount of 1.1 million UAH.
There are also several media reports about changes in Malyuha’s property status in 2025. At the end of February, he sold the gifted apartment – though for 4.2 million UAH.
In April, he sold a 15-year-old Lexus RX350 for 830,000 UAH, and in May, he purchased a Volkswagen Touareg (2020) for 1.6 million UAH.
Ruslan Malyuha told the media that he is «always open to communication», but asked to send questions to his employer. His wife declined to comment.
The Kyiv Customs assures that Ruslan Malyuha’s declaration is hidden due to a restriction, as his wife has joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the withdrawal of the declaration from the register «in no way aims to conceal income or avoid financial transparency». However, they refused to answer questions about the source of funds for the property acquisitions.
