Guarantees after the war: Zelenskyy announced readiness for a security agreement with the USA, but the signing timeline has shifted
Zelenskyy stated in Davos that U.S. guarantees for Ukraine will be signed after the end of the war.
«The text of the document on security guarantees for Ukraine from the U.S. has already been prepared, with copies held by both Ukraine and the U.S. The signing by the presidents will take place after the conflict ends, after which the document will be ratified by Congress and the Verkhovna Rada,» – he noted.
However, earlier Western publications reported that the U.S. did not support the idea of deploying European troops in Ukraine with Washington’s backing. This was one of the key demands of Kyiv and European partners in the context of security guarantees.
According to media reports, Europe and Ukraine planned to discuss this issue with the American side in Davos, but the topic of Greenland overshadowed the discussion of guarantees for Ukraine on the agenda.
Thus, it remains unclear which specific agreed-upon document the President of Ukraine is referring to.
