Attempt to paralyze the parliament: the head of SAPO explained how Tymoshenko came under investigation due to attempts to "collapse" the monomajority
The leader of the parliamentary faction "Batkivshchyna" Yuliya Tymoshenko came under the scrutiny of law enforcement in November last year when information emerged about attempts in the Verkhovna Rada to bribe people’s deputies.
This was stated by the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Oleksandr Klymenko.
He clarified that in November 2025, information appeared about attempts in the Verkhovna Rada to bribe people’s deputies to leave the Servant of the People faction or vote contrary to the majority’s wishes.
«Such information was not only with us. In the media space, there were reports that the Security Service of Ukraine conducted preventive talks with deputies who tried to propose to others to leave the faction or do other things that would effectively cause the parliament to collapse and fail to perform its key function», — noted Klymenko.
He added that within the framework of other proceedings, information was obtained about attempts to bribe people’s deputies.
«We already had protocols of covert investigative and search activities to confirm that this was indeed happening. Therefore, we appealed to the Prosecutor General, and on November 27, he entered the relevant information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations», — he stated.
The head of the SAPO refused to answer questions about the people’s deputy who was allegedly «recording» Tymoshenko.
«Due to the specifics of our work, I cannot confirm or deny information about whether someone cooperated with us. If we disclose details of our work and interactions with anyone, no one will approach us, and we will cease to perform our functions. And why do that? So that this informational occasion lives for two hours, and then we lose our reputation? That would be unwise», — emphasized Klymenko.
On January 23, the full bail amount of 33 million hryvnias was paid for Tymoshenko.
