41 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation received suspicion notices from SAPO and NABU
41 MPs of the current convocation of the Verkhovna Rada have received suspicions from NABU and SAPO.
The head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Oleksandr Klymenko, gave an interview to Ukrinform, in which he spoke about investigations involving Members of Parliament and other high-profile cases being investigated by anti-corruption bodies.
«In total, 41 MPs of the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation have received suspicions from SAPO. Over the ten years since the start of the anti-corruption bodies’ work, 79 former and current MPs have received suspicions,» Klymenko stated.
It should be noted that 41 MPs is more than the total number of members in all factions of the Verkhovna Rada, except for Servant of the People.
According to the head of SAPO, before the full-scale invasion, there were periods when payments «in envelopes» reached up to 20,000 dollars per month, but after the invasion began in 2022, MPs did not receive such payments for some time.
Later, envelope payments resumed. According to the SAPO head, MPs received 1-2 thousand dollars per month for voting on specific bills.
«Then the payments increased to 5,000 dollars. Penalties could also be applied. In such cases, the «salary» was reduced to 3,000 dollars,» Klymenko noted.
As a reminder, at the end of December, five MPs from "Servant of the People" (Yuriy Kisyel, Yevhen Pyvovarov, Ihor Nehulevskyi, Olha Savchenko, and Mykhailo Laba) were informed of suspicions of receiving bribes in the case of «envelopes» for voting. In January, the leader of the "Batkivshchyna" faction, Yuliya Tymoshenko, received a suspicion from NABU and SAPO.
