"Premium-class humanitarian aid": a BMW X5 worth 2 million hryvnias was detained at the border, attempted to be imported with forged documents
According to the accompanying documents, the premium-class crossover was being transported to a charitable foundation in Kharkiv for subsequent transfer to a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from American donors.
"However, during a detailed inspection, employees of the Lviv Customs established that the sender of the vehicle is a Lithuanian company, and the recipient of the BMW is an ordinary citizen of Ukraine," - customs officers noted.
It is worth adding that the value of the car exceeds 2 million UAH.
Thus, customs officers found out that the head of the foundation, with the aim of importing the car as humanitarian aid, submitted documents to the customs authorities with false information about the sender, recipient, value, and nature of the goods.
A protocol on the violation of customs rules was drawn up for this fact in accordance with Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
A report on this case was sent to the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Lviv region on the grounds of a criminal offense under Article 201-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
