"I pray that he knew": Blogger Yeva Mishalova comments for the first time on the murder of Ihor Komarov in Bali

Ukrainian blogger Yeva Mishalova has spoken out for the first time since the horrific murder of her boyfriend, the son of a criminal authority nicknamed Komar, Ihor Komarov, on the island of Bali. Unable to hold back hysterical tears, she addressed her beloved, emphasizing how much she loves him, and also thanked her followers for their support during this difficult time.

According to the influencer, she held onto hope until the very end that everything was okay with Ihor Komarov, so she constantly tried to reach him through social media. Now, Mishalova only hopes that her beloved can "see" all her posts and "feel" her love. She published an emotional video in her Instagram-stories.

"I just know that Ihor saw my stories and knows that I love him. My sister told me it would be right to thank people for their words of support and condolences. Thank you so much to everyone who writes to me and supports me. But right now, I pray that Ihor knows how much I love him. I’ve been writing to him on Telegram all these days, hoping he would see it. He loved watching my Instagram so much...", – the blogger said with tears in her eyes.

Kidnapping and Murder of Ihor Komarov

According to law enforcement, on February 15, Ihor Komarov was kidnapped in the Jimbaran area while riding a scooter. Journalists believe his location could have been determined after Yeva Mishalova posted a joint romantic photo for Valentine’s Day, leaving the geolocation tag. A few days after his disappearance, a video surfaced online showing a man resembling Komarov, with numerous signs of beating and torture, begging his parents to pay a ransom of 10 million dollars.

GPS tracking data from one of the vehicles used in the kidnapping showed that he was taken to a villa in Tabanan on the mid-western coast of Bali. Investigators suggest that this is where the man was held and tortured. During a search, the villa was found empty, but police discovered a mobile phone and a bag belonging to the victim, as well as traces of blood. It was later confirmed that these matched the stains found in a rented car used by the kidnappers.

On February 26, local residents discovered body parts near Ketewel Beach. Police conducted search operations along the river and coastal area and found other remains – the head, torso, arms, and legs. Indonesian law enforcement carried out a DNA examination, after which it was confirmed that the dismembered body parts belonged to 28-year-old Ihor Komarov. The analysis showed a complete DNA match between the found remains and genetic samples provided by the deceased’s parents.

Currently, the police have detained one suspect and identified six other foreigners involved in the crime. Law enforcement has even appealed to Interpol to issue an international warrant for their arrest.
