Zelenskyy signed a law on a daily nationwide minute of silence
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law on March 6, which establishes a nationwide minute of silence as a mandatory daily event at the state level.
This was reported on the law card on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The law signed by the President establishes the mandatory nationwide minute of silence at the state level as a ritual of gratitude, respect, and remembrance.
The minute of silence is intended to honor the memory of:
- military personnel and members of volunteer formations who died defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine;
- medical workers, police officers, rescuers, journalists, volunteers, and civilians who became victims of Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
The nationwide minute of silence is held daily at 09:00. Local authorities are tasked with notifying and informing enterprises, institutions, and organizations, as well as territories under their management.
At the same time, media outlets, regardless of ownership, are also required to announce the minute of silence.
Along with the nationwide minute of silence, an annual commemoration of the victims of the genocide of the Ukrainian people, including the Holodomor of 1932-1933, is held. The commemoration takes place every fourth Saturday of November at 16:00.
