Strike on the "heart" of the Russian Black Sea Fleet: General Staff confirms the damage to frigates "Admiral Essen" and "Admiral Makarov" in Novorossiysk

Ukrainian military confirmed damage to two ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet as a result of a strike on the naval base in Novorossiysk. The ships in question are the frigates «Admiral Essen» and «Admiral Makarov».

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the military, the damage occurred during an attack on the base in Novorossiysk (Krasnodar Krai, RF), which took place on March 2, 2026. After further analysis of the strike results, the Ukrainian side confirmed the damage to two Russian vessels.

The General Staff specified that the damaged ships are frigates of the Russian Black Sea Fleet:

• «Admiral Essen»

• «Admiral Makarov»

Currently, the extent of their damage is being clarified. Additionally, analysis of information regarding the possible damage to other Russian vessels that may have been in the naval base area during the attack is ongoing.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that strikes on Russian military infrastructure will continue.

«Systematic strikes on military infrastructure and facilities of the enemy’s military-industrial complex will continue until the complete cessation of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine,» the statement reads.
