In Vinnytsia region, Deputy Chief of Police Marynyuk was detained for extorting 1 million dollars
In Vinnytsia region, law enforcement officers detained the deputy head of the Khmilnyk district police department – head of the investigation department, Ihor Marynyuk. The investigation believes that the official demanded over 1 million dollars to resolve an issue in a criminal case concerning a land plot of approximately 200 hectares.
Information about the detention was published in the Facebook group "Road Safety Committee". The message states that the official is suspected of demanding undue benefits on a large scale. A notice of suspicion was served to him on March 3, 2026. Investigative actions in the case are ongoing.
In addition, the public organization "Audit of Power" stated that, according to available information, Marynyuk resigned from the National Police service of his own accord in 2026 before the notice of suspicion was served.

According to Vitaliy Pavlovskyi, head of the public organization "Audit of Power", Ihor Marynyuk’s actions are classified under Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – extortion. It pertains to receiving funds for assistance in resolving a criminal case involving a land plot of approximately 200 hectares.
The public organization stated that the investigation is being conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation. They are awaiting a full clarification of the circumstances of the case.
"We are confident that the State Bureau of Investigation will conduct a comprehensive and impartial investigation," the statement noted.



According to the public organization "Audit of Power", employees of the State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches in several locations. In particular, investigators worked at the suspect’s place of residence in Vinnytsia, as well as in the office premises of the Khmilnyk district police department.
During the searches, law enforcement officers allegedly seized items and documents that may be relevant to the investigation. Among them are mobile phones, notes, and a notebook listing individuals whom the investigation considers as potential debtors or participants in agreements.
Currently, a preventive measure for the suspect has not yet been chosen. Investigators are examining the seized phones, digital data, notes, and documents, as well as the official’s contacts. Separately, they are identifying potential witnesses and participants in the events.
