In Russia’s Ufa, the Bashneft refinery is ablaze, a key processing unit is damaged

On the night of April 2, the territory of the aggressor country was restless again. Early in the morning in the city of Ufa, an oil refinery (OR) came under attack.

A fire broke out at the facility due to the strike, and thick black smoke is visible. This is reported by the Telegram channel Supernova+.

Residents are actively sharing videos of the fire in one of the high-rise buildings. It is likely that a missile from Russian air defense, which was trying to intercept an air target aimed at the ORP, hit there.

It is also reported that people are not allowed on the territory of the damaged facility, so Russians have to film the consequences of the strike from shelters.

The Telegram channel "KiberBoroshno" analyzed the video of the fire at the ORP and confirmed that the strike hit the area of the AVT-5 unit of the "Bashneft-Novoyl" enterprise.

"Intensive burning with a large volume of black smoke is observed. The AVT unit is a primary unit for oil processing, key in the technological chain, without which further processing is impossible," the message states.

What is known about the attacked facility

"Bashneft-UNPZ" (until 2012 — Ufa Oil Refinery) is a branch of the oil company "Bashneft" and one of the four main ORPs in Ufa that form the city’s industrial base. The enterprise produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and sulfur.

Raw materials mainly come from various regions: about 50% — oil from Western Siberia, approximately 40% — from Bashkiria, and 10% — gas condensate.
