Sanctions in exchange for votes for the budget: MP stated Zelenskyy’s promise not to use the NSDC against Ukrainians

People’s Deputy Zheleznyak, citing sources, reported that Zelenskyy promised deputies to stop using sanctions against Ukrainian citizens for political purposes.

According to him, in December 2025, when there weren’t enough votes in the Rada to approve the state budget, the deputies set a condition: sanctions should be approved by parliament. They organized a video call with Zelenskyy for them.

«The President, obviously, opposed such a limitation for his favorite ’toy’. They refused the amendment, but in exchange for a promise not to apply this mechanism against their own citizens for political purposes», — reports Zheleznyak.
