"Mindich’s tapes" and the elite residential complex on Hrushevskyi: who lives next door to the NABU case figures

The story with the «Mindich tapes» brought to the surface not only schemes around «Energoatom», but also the very environment of the Ukrainian political elite. NABU was wiretapping Tymur Mindich’s apartment in the building on Hrushevskoho Street, 9A — one of the most expensive residential complexes in the country, which has long been called «Koncha-Zaspa in a high-rise».

Mindich’s neighbors turned out to be children of former speakers, MPs, and figures in high-profile investigations.

The son of Volodymyr Rybak, the former speaker during Yanukovych’s time — Oleksandr Rybak — received as a gift in 2019 an apartment of 163 sq. m and two parking spaces. Market value — about $815,000 without parking. The neighboring apartment of 202 sq. m is registered to his wife Iryna Fridental and costs over a million dollars. Rybak himself previously headed the State Architectural and Construction Inspectorate — a structure that controlled the country’s construction market. Even earlier, he became the owner of a mansion in Koncha-Zaspa of 660 sq. m, where, according to him, $2 million in cash was stolen from under the ceiling.

Andriy Derkach’s daughter — Tetyana Terekhova — continues to own elite real estate in Kyiv even after her father became a RF senator. In the building on Hrushevskoho, apartments of almost 247 and 195 sq. m, as well as four garages, are registered to her. The total value of the assets — about $2.3 million. Additionally, she received an apartment on Pechersk of 579 sq. m. Before the war, Terekhova worked as a TV host on Viktor Medvedchuk’s channels.

Another neighbor of Mindich — Zakhar Palytsya, son of MP Ihor Palytsya and partner of Ihor Kolomoiskyi. At 24 years old, he received as a gift an apartment on Hrushevskoho of 347 sq. m worth no less than $1.7 million. Meanwhile, according to journalists, he has been living in Switzerland for several years. Dozens of Ukrainian companies related to Bukovel and the hotel business are registered to him.

The building on Hrushevskoho, 9A has long turned not just into an elite residential complex, but into a closed club of the Ukrainian nomenklatura, where families of former Party of Regions members, oligarch partners, Medvedchuk’s entourage, and anti-corruption investigation figures live side by side.

It was in this building that NABU recorded Mindich’s conversations about schemes in the energy sector. And it is here that for decades the system has been concentrated in which apartments worth millions of dollars are registered to politicians’ children right after university.
