5 years behind bars: in Khmelnytskyi region, ex-head of MSEC sentenced for bribe for disability group
In Khmelnytskyi region, former MSEC head sentenced to five years in prison for bribery during disability registration.
In Khmelnytskyi region, the court found the former head of the medical-social expert commission (MSEC) guilty of demanding a bribe for establishing disability status. She was sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that in August 2024, a citizen approached the MSEC to undergo the procedure for disability recognition. During the conversation, the official informed him that $5,000 needed to be paid for obtaining a Group III disability.
The applicant contacted law enforcement and agreed to cooperate with the investigation. In December 2024, the woman was caught red-handed while receiving the illegal benefit.
According to the investigation, the money was intended solely for a positive commission decision and disability registration. The court found the ex-official guilty of a corruption crime and issued a real prison sentence.
Scandals surrounding MSEC in Ukraine continue to generate significant public resonance, especially amid audits of the disability determination system and the fight against corruption in medical institutions.
