Visits that "did not happen": NBU confirmed Vasyl Veselyi’s meetings with the supervisory block after Pyshnyi’s denials

The National Bank of Ukraine responded to the scandal with the «Mindich tapes»: inspections at «Sense Bank» continue. At the same time, it turned out that the figure in the recordings, Vasyl Veselyi, repeatedly visited the NBU.

This is stated in the article by ZN.UA economics editor Yulia Samayeva ««We are trying to walk on a knife’s edge»: Andriy Pyshnyi on the «Mindich tapes», the boundaries of the regulator’s powers, inflationary shocks, stress-testing of banks, and their role in recovery».

To the question of how the NBU can limit Vasyl Veselyi’s influence on «Sense Bank», he replied:

«I know nothing about any influence of Vasyl Veselyi. This issue was discussed at the meeting of the temporary investigative commission. The NBU Board and I have taken note of all responses — from both the Chairman of the Management Board and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board. If such facts are known and documented, they must be investigated. Currently, the National Bank has no information about such influence».

To the question of how often Vasyl Veselyi visited the NBU since October 2022, Pyshnyi replied:

«Vasyl Veselyi does not visit the National Bank... There were no visits to me. Regarding clarification of information about his possible visits to the NBU — we will provide a response based on the results of the check».

Later, the NBU reported that Vasyl Veselyi had two visits to the NBU in 2024 for meetings with employees of the supervisory unit.
