Stepan Kubiv, People’s Deputy from European Solidarity and former head of the National Bank, has died

The death of People’s Deputy Stepan Kubiv, who represented the European Solidarity faction, has been reported. The information was spread by deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

After Euromaidan in 2014, Kubiv headed the National Bank for six months (from February 24 to June 19). In 2016–2019, he served as First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade in the government of Volodymyr Hroysman.

He was born in the Ternopil region. In 1984–1990, he was a member of the Communist Party and worked as secretary of the regional committee of the Komsomol of Lviv State University. He began working in the banking sector in 1994.
