NABU and SAPO have completed the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings on suspicion against former head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office Roman Khyma and former head of the department for supervision over compliance with laws of this prosecutor’s office Maryan Mihashchuk in obtaining illegal benefits.

The press services of the agencies report this, however the surnames of the suspects are not mentioned in the statement.

According to media reports, the case concerns precisely Khyma and Mihashchuk. Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court set bail for the former head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

“The SAPO prosecutor decided to complete the pre-trial investigation in the case against the former head of the prosecutor’s office of one of the regions and the head of the supervision department of this institution. On February 26, 2026, SAPO and NABU notified them of suspicion under parts 3 and 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, NABU detectives have opened the case materials to the defense for review,” the decision states.

In 2021, the suspects demanded $100 thousand for making decisions in the interests of officials of a state enterprise and a private company, as well as for closing the case and not bringing to liability the persons who had seized the property of this SE.

In addition, they established a kickback scheme from the company engaged in road construction in the region. For 3% of the contract value, the officials promised to turn a blind eye to possible violations during the works.
