Ukraine enters list of countries with the lowest birth rates in the world: UN data

The fertility rate in Ukraine is currently about 1 child per woman — more than twice below the level needed for population replacement.

Only South Korea, Taiwan, and a few other Asian countries have lower rates. Previously, demographer Ella Libanova stated that in Ukraine «there are people to die, but no one to give birth», while MP Dmytro Razumkov reported that since August 2025 alone, up to 700,000 young people have left the country and not returned.
