Luxury life on stolen millions: while ex-MP Hordiychuk hides abroad, his wife flaunts $50,000 bags

Champagne for $200, bags for $50,000: wife of the odious Ukrainian agribusinessman Hordiychuk “shows off” her luxury lifestyle.

Andriy Hordiychuk — caught in schemes! “The former deputy took loans from a state bank through front companies for years and never repaid the money!

The agribusinessman and former deputy of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Council received a loan of almost 80 million hryvnias from a state bank for agricultural activities. With these funds he did buy 90 tractors. He repaid the debt diligently and appeared to be a reliable borrower.

Then, with the machinery in hand, he pledged it to the bank and obtained a second loan of 70 million hryvnias, allegedly for working capital. To avoid suspicion, he simultaneously launched a third loan through controlled fictitious companies that conducted no real business activity. This brought in another 35 million hryvnias.

All three loans totaled about 185 million hryvnias. Yet the man had no intention of repaying them.

He sold the pledged tractors to third parties. Investigators located 46 of the 90 machines. They were sold, partially covering the debt to the bank. As a result, the state bank’s losses amounted to 140 million hryvnias.

At the same time, investigators in Kryvyi Rih uncovered a scheme to steal agricultural produce. Everything was built on trust. Through a fictitious company, the suspect and his accomplices ordered over 800 tons of rapeseed from farmers. To create an illusion of honesty, they paid partially for the delivery and promised full payment. Once they received the entire shipment, they exported it and stopped all payments. Losses to the farm — 11 million hryvnias.

The actions are classified under articles on fraud and misappropriation of another’s property by abuse of official position, committed by a prior conspiracy of a group of persons on an especially large scale (Part 4, Article 190; Part 3, Article 27; Part 5, Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The scheme was almost perfect — were it not for the investigation. The suspect is currently hiding abroad. An international wanted notice is being prepared. We are identifying accomplices and searching for the illegally sold equipment.

Hopes of impunity are futile.
