In Prykarpattia, the head of the TRC and his subordinates will stand trial in a case of torturing mobilized personnel

In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, the head of the district TRC and three of his subordinates who tortured persons liable for military service will be tried.

This is reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI).

The SBI investigated complaints from citizens and members of parliament regarding beatings, torture, and extortion of money at one of the TRCs in the Carpathian region, as well as following official media publications. After the publicity, an even greater number of people who had suffered from the actions of the group of servicemen of the district TRC led by its head began to contact law enforcement agencies.

Investigators established two cases of torture of mobilized men.

In one episode, TRC employees used physical force against a man who refused to undergo a fluorography. The victim was taken out into the hospital corridor, where one of the suspects held him while another struck him on the head with a metal token clenched in his fist.

After that, another serviceman struck the man several times in the liver area, trying to intimidate him and force him to undergo the examination. He was then taken to the TRC premises, where the beatings continued. As a result of the beating, the man was diagnosed with a fractured rib and other bodily injuries.

In another episode, three TRC servicemen forcibly restrained the man while the head of the military enlistment office struck him. At the same time, those holding the victim also beat him with their hands and feet, after which they stripped him, left him lying on the concrete floor, and then forcibly took him to the radiography room.

During the beating, the suspects also used a tear gas canister, spraying it twice into the victim’s face. Due to the injuries sustained, the man underwent a complex operation to remove one of his organs.

The actions of the head and his three subordinates were qualified under Part 3 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — torture committed by a state representative.

The perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison. The court remanded all of them in custody without the right to bail. The indictment has been sent to court.
