The "Dynasty" case: the NABU expert was threatened, and the SSU collected data on her through closed databases, — MP Radina
The expert engaged by NABU and SAPO to work on the examination of the scandalous "Dynasty" construction in the case of Andriy Yermak was threatened.
This was written on Facebook by the MP of "Servant of the People", Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Activities Anastasiya Radina.
She noted that she hears questions from colleagues such as:
- Why did NABU publish Yermak’s correspondence with a fortune-teller?
- Is it hype or personal revenge?
- Is it true that this had no significance for proving Yermak’s criminal actions?
Here Radina emphasizes that the correspondence is part of proving the risk of interference in the investigation by the suspect. By law, to justify the necessity of detention, prosecutors must demonstrate the existence of such a risk and explain why it cannot be prevented by milder means.
"The SAPO’s evidence was not only that Yermak discussed appointments in the security sector with third parties. This is no news in political circles. Printouts regarding possible appointments in the SSU - ’minimum program’ and ’maximum’ - were found with Yermak’s driver. This also won’t surprise many," she recalls.
However, as the MP adds, the prosecutors also showed the likely "fruits" of this influence in the form of real pressure on the expert engaged by NABU and SAPO in the case.
"And this part of the story deserves much more attention than ’feng shui.’ In court, the SAPO prosecutor stated that the expert was openly threatened. In particular, she was ’approached’ with a demand to stop working on the examination of this construction - the expert herself testified to this. The investigation also established that information about the expert, including from closed databases, was collected by the SSU, and later the information ’surfaced’ in anonymous Telegram channels linked to the SSU.
And this is already much more than just correspondence that can be positioned as conversations ’about nothing’ or assumptions about influence. We will definitely examine this in more detail in parliament," Radina concludes.
