Apartments of the deceased — to front persons: ex-head of district court in Kyiv region suspected of involvement in 4 million scheme

The former head of the Skvyra District Court of Kyiv Region was notified of suspicion of fraud, illegal seizure of apartments, and official forgery.

While holding the position, he effectively joined a scheme to seize real estate belonging to deceased individuals who had no heirs. Such property was supposed to pass into the ownership of the territorial community, but instead it was registered through the court in the names of front persons.

Lawsuits were filed with the court seeking “recognition of ownership rights to the inheritance,” after which knowingly false information about family ties and cohabitation with the deceased was entered into the documents. The judge, aware of the illegality of the actions, prepared and signed rulings containing false data, affixed them with a seal, and granted them the status of official documents.

These rulings served as the basis for the unlawful registration of ownership rights. According to the investigation, the criminal activity continued from August to October 2022. As a result, an organized group of nine individuals seized apartments in Bila Tserkva worth nearly UAH 4 million. Indictments against them have already been sent to court.
