The body armor case for Ukrenergo: HACC has separated materials regarding Viktor Yakovlyuk into a separate proceeding

The High Anti-Corruption Court has separated the materials regarding Viktor Yakovlyuk into separate proceedings. He was detained abroad and agreed to a simplified extradition procedure extradition.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office is ready to conclude a plea agreement with him, reports Slovo i Dilo with reference to the HACC decision.

The SAP prosecutor requested that the materials concerning Yakovlyuk be separated into separate proceedings, as he had reached an agreement with the investigation. The accused is being prepared for extradition to Ukraine.

“The prosecutor’s motion is granted. Separate the materials from the criminal proceedings into separate proceedings regarding the charges against (Yakovlyuk – ed.),” the ruling states.

Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau had put Yakovlyuk on the wanted list. The investigation against him was conducted in absentia. Later, the SAPO referred the case to court.

The NABU and SAPO notified the former director of the security department of NEC “Ukrenergo” of suspicion. According to the investigation, between March and April 2022, the head of the Security Department of PJSC “NEC “Ukrenergo””, responsible for vetting suppliers and selecting the most economically advantageous offers, arranged the purchase of body armor from a pre-determined company at a price twice the market rate.

Moreover, this supplier lacked the necessary permits and licenses and had never produced similar products. According to Slovo i Dilo, the company in question is “TOP Trading Line”. As a result of the scheme, the state suffered losses exceeding UAH 10.3 million.
