NABU and SAPO complete investigation in case of conversion center involving top STS officials for UAH 147 million

NABU and SAPO have completed the investigation into the activities of a conversion center through which the state lost at least UAH 147 million in taxes.

According to the investigation, the former head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine and the deputy head of the regional STS department in Poltava region are involved in the scheme. The participants created a conversion center comprising over 200 controlled companies. These firms issued fictitious tax invoices to real businesses, helping them evade taxes.

The investigation alleges that the former STS head facilitated the scheme’s operation, while the Poltava official ensured the “necessary” decisions on tax invoices in exchange for bribes.

The documented losses to the budget amount to UAH 147 million.
